Faculty Associate - Architecture

The Design School

The Architecture program on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses online and/or on-campus in Architecture.

We seek candidates with expertise in intermediate-level architectural design studio instruction and a solid grounding in architectural technology. Ideal applicants will be skilled in leading iterative, project-based design processes that emphasize conceptual development, physical and digital model-making, and public presentation. A comprehensive understanding of building systems, structural principles, thermodynamics, and construction methods is essential. Candidates should be prepared to teach across both design studios and technical courses, fostering meaningful integration between architectural creativity and technical rigor.

These positions are one-semester appointments, part-time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications. A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester. Teaching duties include preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and being available for one-on-one assistance (via weekly office hours for on-campus classes and electronically for online classes).

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment.  Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based on qualifications and assigned teaching load.

The anticipated start date is: Fall 2025, Sessions A, B and/or C
